Hi Mamas & Daddy’s to-be!
Just like y’all, I spent hours researching the best items for my baby. Including items, I should put on my baby registry. I read through a ton of “must-have” lists. I thought I would do something a little different and tell y’all what we never used or didn’t work out for whatever reason.
Halo Swivel Sleeper Bassinet
Now, thankfully I somewhat predicted that this might be an issue. Babies have a hard time lying flat on their backs. Especially, if they have reflux and so many babies do! I bought this bassinet early in my pregnancy when I saw one for sale in my neighborhood app. I think I bought it for $100 and the sweet lady gave me extra sheets and accessories to go with it! She told me her son never slept in it and I truly believe her!
My little one took a few naps in it, but never really got a good night’s sleep. To be fair, I probably gave up on it a little earlier than I should have. I didn’t figure out how to truly swaddle her until about 4-5 weeks (Thanks Moms on Call!).
I would say if you’re thinking about buying a bassinet, look for a cheaper option or buy secondhand. You never know what they’ll sleep in.
All of them. Trust me I tried every brand imaginable. I have a strong little lady who broke out of every swaddle including the Velcro options. I would recommend buying swaddling blankets before buying swaddle sacks or sleep sacks.
If you do have the urge to put it on your registry, I would only put one. They are pretty pricey for something you may never use.
I’ve kept all the ones I have just in case. Every baby is different and who knows if our next will like them.
Blooming Bath Lotus
I hesitate even putting this one on here. Some lovely friends of ours gifted this to us. Our little took her first baths in this adorable bath, however, we couldn’t use it long term because it didn’t really fit our sink.
Our kitchen sink is deep rather than wide and our bathroom sinks are a strange oval shape. I would ensure you measure your sink before putting this item on your registry.
Wub-a-nubs and Pacifiers
While all of these items are super adorable, I would be careful how many you pick up. I have two small bins full of Wub-A-Nubs and Pacifiers. You just never know which will be there favorites, if any at all.
We were extremely fortunate that our little one only used a pacifier for around 3 months. She just stopped using it one day and that was that. We waited about 2 weeks after she was born to give it to her. I was wanting to breastfeed her and pacifiers can sometimes confuse babies.
Quite a few retailers who offer baby registries will give you a welcome gift. I’m pretty sure Amazon’s and Target’s gifts both had pacifiers. Pacifiers are so cheap anyhow. You’ll get some no matter what at your baby shower, so I would hold off until after the baby comes and order them online.
So what are the best baby items?
I’ll link some of my other favorite baby items below, as well as, some of my baby related post! What is one item that you researched the most? Leave it in the comments below. Thanks for stopping by!
