Guess what day it is? Hump day? No. Monday. Technically. It’s Amazon’s Prime Day! Who’s ready for the best deals you can find in summer? I am! Let’s chat about what I think the best deals are and what I’m going to be looking for during the sale.
Let me start off by letting you know some details. Prime day is going to be Monday, July 15th AND Tuesday, July 16th. It’s called Prime day not only because of Amazon Prime, but 7 and 15 are prime numbers. I know, that was super nerdy, I judged myself as I wrote it.
The sale is exclusive to only Prime members. You’re NOT an Amazon Prime member? Where have you been? Under a rock? If you have never signed up before, you can sign up for a free 30 day trial and now you have access to all the sales. Prime is an annual charge of $119, but if you shop online as much as I do, it’s worth it in no time at all. Prime gets you free shipping on so many products. I pretty much exclusively purchase from Prime items. There are ton of other benefits too!
No surprise, all Amazon products are going to be extremely discounted. What’s that you say? You already have an Amazon Echo Dot or an Amazon Kindle? You have to think big picture here. It’s going to sound completely insane, but I try to buy as many Christmas gifts in advance as I can! I have my daughter’s birthday at the end of October. I also have my nephew and mother-in-law’s birthdays in December, as well as, my niece’s birthday in January. That’s a lot of gift giving!
Last year I was able to snag an Amazon kid’s kindle for my nephew. Best. Aunt. Ever. So here are a couple I would recommend:
Amazon Products/Electronic Deals:
Amazon Echo Dot: $22 (Save $27)
This would make an amazing last minute gift. Maybe even a teacher gift. I think this would be an easy way to play music for kids in a classroom. Maybe it’s a gift for a neighbor or for a gift exchange at work. The possibilities are endless and for $22! Come on. It has voice control, which you can set for your lights, thermostat, or even lock your doors! Endless hours of entertainment as your kids ask it 1,000 questions.
Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet: $49 (Save $30) or Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet: $99 (Save $50)
My Kindle Fire is so old. I don’t even know what edition it is. There’s really been no reason to upgrade it other that it’s old as dirt. I only use it to read books. Typically on business trips. It’s been an amazing tablet and I will always recommend an Amazon Fire to anyone. Even you out there that love the feel of a real book between your hands. Trust me. I do too. But this is a way to keep all your books in one place. Which if you’re like me, you need more than one to go on vacation with and this is so much lighter!
So what’s the difference between the Amazon Fire 8 and the 10? Good question. Well the 10 is just the 8, but with larger display and louder speakers. The storage capacity is also double in the 10 than in the 8. If you’re going to use the tablet like I am by only reading on it, I would suggest the 8. If you want to watch movies, play games, etc. You probably need the 10.
Amazon Firestick 4k: $25 (Save $25)
For the electronics nerd in your life or the media lover. Or for people like me, who ask their husband’s how to turn on the tv, the Amazon Firestick is used for streaming things like Hulu and Netflix if you don’t have a SmartTV. So why this particular device? It has better picture quality and sound than any other Amazon product. The $24.99 price tag isn’t bad either and I would definitely recommend it for a “white elephant” gift exchange.
Ring Video Doorbell 2 with Echo Dot: $199 (Save $50)
Ring doorbells are the future! I hate going to the door if I know darn well I’m not going to answer it (sorry I’m happy with my pest control, lawn care, or alarm company). I already have a camera that sits above my door. The Ring Video would enable me to have two way talk and it’s motion activated! It also will connect with your Alexa product. If you already an Echo Dot, you can always give it as gift to someone else.
InstaPot Duo 6-quart 7-in-1 Pressure Cooker: $59.99 (Save $20)
So, I have the CrockPot version of the Instapot, and I cannot figure it out. I tried looking up recipes with zero success. The last thing I tried in it was pulled pork and it was a complete disaster. I’m looking to trade-in my CrockPot version for the Instapot. Has your mother-in-law, sister, best friend been eyeing your Instapot? Now’s your chance to become the favorite gift giver!
Lodge Cast Iron Skillet: $14.88 (Save $12)
If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, I’m not sure you know the true mean of a delicious steak. Seriously. I cannot live without my Lodge Cast Iron Skillet. Lodge is definitely the leading brand in cast iron. Grab this deal up while you can.
Halova Toiletry Bag: $9.99 (Save $19)
I bought this toiletry bag for my hospital bag when I had my daughter. It is just the perfect travel bag. It fits so much! It even has the hook, which I thought I would never need, but turned out to be so useful. Those hospital bathrooms are tiny.
Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler: $36.99 (Save $13)
I’m definitely interested in checking this out. If I can save time by drying and styling at the same time, I’m in! This is a cheaper alternative to the Dyson Airwrap Complete Styler.
Tatcha Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder for Sensitive Skin: $39.16 (Save $26)
I absolutely love this as an exfoliator. You pour a little bit out and mix it with some water. It’s not super gritty, which made me think it wasn’t going to work. Boy, was I wrong! I keep it in my shower and use it a few times a week to keep my skin smooth. I think it’s gentle enough to use every day if you wanted and because you only need a tiny amount. It lasts so long before you need to repurchase!
Things I would consider waiting on:
Apple Airpods with Wireless Charging Case: $179 (Save $20)
Funny story: When my husband wanted these for a Christmas gift, I definitely called them “airbuds.” That’s definitely a movie about a dog that plays basketball. Not wireless earbuds.
This is an item I’ve been going back and forth about. Yes, I am the last person on earth that does not have wireless earbuds. They just haven’t been extremely necessary to me, which is why I pause on purchasing them. They would be great for the gym, however, and that’s definitely a win in my book. Side note: I bought these C9 leggings from Target that hold your phone! Totally handsfree at the gym? Sign me up.
You save $20 on these bad boys, but I predict at least the same deal during Christmas if not better. And remember other retailers are not just going to sit back and watch Amazon take all the glory during these two days. I know Target will definitely be coming with their “Target Deals” during these days, so keep an eye out for competitive pricing. You may have a Redcard or a giftcard that may make the deal more worthwhile somewhere else.
The best toy deals always come up within the two weeks of Christmas. That’s not to say I won’t be purchasing any. Just make good choices when looking at these items. Do you need it now? Or can it wait until the holidays?
Last year we were expecting our daughter, I made out light a bandit on some big baby items including a baby monitor. Keep an eye for car seats, baby monitors, pack-n-plays, and more!
All kinds of deals will be launching in the next two days. Don’t forget to check out the entertainment and fashion deals!
